Raise a Glass for a Good Cause

In 2004, Fred Cline created Cashmere, a classic “GSM” blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre grapes, as an auction lot for a charity auction that his wife, Nancy, was actively involved in raising breast cancer awareness.

“In the United States, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer on average every two minutes,” said Nancy Cline, owner of Cline Cellars. “We need to move the concept of ‘awareness’ beyond the month of October and let women diagnosed with this disease know that we support them every day of every week of every month of every year.”

And so they did. Cline Cellars has partnered with Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) and pledged at least $25,000 a year to help LBBC provide educational resources and support services to all women affected by breast cancer, raising almost $300,000 since the project launched

As for the wine itself, Red Cashmere continues to be a Grenache, Syrah, and Mouvedre blend.  It’s a very flavorful, smooth wine offering big cherry, raspberry and chocolate notes with hints of cracked black pepper and plum making it one of the more versatile wines you’ll find.

New to Cashmere is the launch of White Cashmere. A combination of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Muscat Canelli, and Viognier, this white blend has bright flavors of peach and pear, floral aromas, and toasty vanilla notes from the oak-aged Chardonnay.

Both wines are aggressively priced at $12.99 for Red Cashmere and $10.99 for White Cashmere. Look for both wines in your local wine department.
