Let the Freakshow Begin!
This wine really puts on a show...
, that is. Over each vintage, the intensity of Michael David’s Freakshow Cabernet Sauvignon has been kicked up exponentially. The 4th
incarnation has more of everything… more depth, more ripe fruit, more pizazz! Nicely balanced with pomegranate fruit and smokey oak, this Lodi Cabernet is gulpable!
Known for taking the road less traveled, Michael David Winery
has always stood apart from the crowd. Whether it be their outlandish brands and packaging or their quirky personaities, Michael and David are definitely on a stage of their own and this wine showcases just that. The fruit for this brute of a Cab comes from the original “super freak,” Michael Phillips’ vineyard located only a medicine ball toss away from the winery.
Why so FREAKy?
It could be the lusciousness of the California fruit. Rich soils and hot days of abundant sunshine lead to wines that express explosively jammy red fruit. It could be FREAKshow’s
upbringing amongst the quirky siblings of the Michael David family, including the blockbuster 7 Deadly Zins
, inky Petit Petite
and clairvoyant 6th Sense Syrah
. It could be FREAKshow’s
value. This is serious California Cabernet intensity at a great price!
Michael David Freakshow Cabernet
This wine is FREAKing
amazing! Cabernet Sauvignon with some Petite Sirah blended in is aged 14 months in French oak. Little rain during the 2012 harvest made for one of the most reliable vintages in years. Blackberry, dark cherry and pomegranate are backed with smokey vanilla oak, spice, and cassis pop on the front with nice tannings and a lingering finish. The FREAKiest
thing about this wine is the value the brothers have jammed into this bottle with all that structure and fruit. A Lodi lover’s dream!
